A pack of 10 fine art Christmas cards depicting Madonna and Child by Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944). 

Kandinsky, a deeply religious man, wrote about his theories regarding the spiritual effect of colours in his book Concerning the Spiritual in Art. According to Kandinsky, Blue was a peaceful, celestial colour, Orange signified change, and Green tranquility. In alignment with his theories, he painted his Madonna’s clothes blue, showing her spirituality and her skin green to reveal her tranquil soul. The Christ Child wears orange clothes, and even his skin has orange tones, emphasising how he would change the world.  Kandinsky painted his large, beautiful eyes a clear shade of blue, indicative of the message of peace this soul would bring to the world.
